David Amito and Michael Laicini’s self-reflexive debut Antrum takes the lost film concept to a terrifying new level, being based on the concept of a cursed film from the 1970s.
The original film comprised a story about a young boy and girl who enter the forest in an attempt to save the soul of their recently deceased pet, before the pair unwittingly dig a hole into hell. When the original film was premiered in 1988, Antrum resulted in the death of fifty six people when the Budapest cinema that it screened in mysteriously burned down.
Other deaths were linked to the film before it was destroyed. Now that an inter-negative has been found and a missing reel restored, the deadliest film ever made is ready for re-release…
